AMD Radeon RX 9070 GPUs Finally Get an Official Release Window—Still No Pricing Details

AMD’s next-generation graphics cards, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, were officially unveiled at CES 2025, yet they were notably absent from the company’s keynote presentation. Meanwhile, vendors on the show floor displayed the new GPUs, though key specifications were redacted.

Now, David McAfee, VP & GM of Radeon Graphics and Ryzen CPUs, has confirmed via social media that both GPUs will be launching in March 2025.

“Radeon 9000 series hardware and software are looking great, and we are planning to have a wide assortment of cards available globally,” McAfee said. “Can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on the cards when they go on sale in March!”

While the launch window is now set, AMD has yet to reveal official specifications or pricing. Many expect these GPUs to compete directly with Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti, which are set to release in February.

Despite the lack of details, reports suggest that stock has already arrived at retailers, and review samples have been sent out to critics. Tech outlet eTeknix has confirmed that it has received units for testing.

The situation has fueled speculation that AMD may have adjusted its launch strategy in response to Nvidia’s upcoming releases. Some believe that pricing pressure from Team Green has led to AMD holding back its official pricing announcement to remain competitive.

AMD’s messaging around the RX 9070 lineup has been somewhat unclear, leaving consumers with lingering questions. A report from mid-2024 indicated that Nvidia holds a dominant 88% share of the discrete GPU market, while AMD lags behind with just 12%.

With no other major competitor challenging Nvidia in the mid-range and high-end graphics card market, AMD faces a critical moment in its effort to gain ground. The company will need a strong launch to make an impact against its biggest rival.
