Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), with his new role officially beginning on April 1, 2025.

The announcement comes alongside a major leadership reshuffle at Sony, with Hiroki Totoki stepping into the position of president and CEO of Sony Corporation. Totoki, previously Sony’s CFO, will be taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since 2018. Additionally, Lin Tao, senior vice president of finance, corporate development, and strategy, has been promoted to CFO.

This leadership change follows last year’s restructuring, where Nishino and Hermen Hulst were appointed to jointly lead SIE after Jim Ryan’s retirement. Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology, while Hulst oversaw PlayStation Studios. With this shift, Nishino now takes full charge of SIE, leading the entire platform business, while Hulst will continue in his role as head of PlayStation Studios.

Nishino has been with Sony since 2000, previously holding the position of senior vice president of the platform experience group.

“I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment,” Nishino said. “Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support, and I am very excited for what the future holds.”
