Grand Theft Auto 6 remains set for a fall 2025 release, with parent company Take-Two reaffirming the timeline in its latest financial report. The highly anticipated title is still planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no delays announced so far.

During the company’s earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed concerns about a possible delay, acknowledging that while there’s always a chance of schedule shifts, the company remains confident in the planned launch window.

“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely,’ you jinx things,” Zelnick said. “So we feel really good about it.”

Rockstar’s Relentless Pursuit of Perfection

When asked about GTA 6’s development, Zelnick remained tight-lipped but emphasized Rockstar’s dedication to delivering a top-tier experience.

“I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally,” he noted. “We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. Arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders. We know the competition isn’t asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.”

Industry Rivals Watching Closely

The release timing of GTA 6 is not just a major event for fans—it’s also influencing decisions across the gaming industry. Just this week, EA’s CEO hinted that the next Battlefield game could be delayed depending on when Rockstar officially drops GTA 6. With the franchise’s massive cultural footprint, other publishers are carefully planning their own launches around it.

Still No Sign of Trailer 2

While the fall 2025 release window remains unchanged, fans are eagerly awaiting the next official look at the game. It has now been over a year since the first trailer dropped, leading to ongoing speculation about when Rockstar will reveal more details.

Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V continues to dominate, having now sold an incredible 210 million copies worldwide. GTA Online remains strong, with the recent Agents of Sabotage update driving engagement and GTA+ memberships seeing a 10% year-over-year increase.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has also surpassed 70 million copies sold, and is currently experiencing its highest-ever concurrent player count on Steam.

With GTA 6 set to be one of the biggest releases in gaming history, the question remains—will players invest in upgraded hardware, such as a potential PS5 Pro, just to experience it at its best?
