Works

Jacqueline Carey's most known work is the Kushiel series, the story of Phedre no Delaunay, a courtesan. The premise of the series has been described as a historical fantasy and an alternate history. The series is a wonderful blend of fantasy, emotions, and theology, with compelling and realistic characters. There is nothing else quite like this series.

In 2006 Carey published a second trilogy set in the land of Terre d'Ange that she introduced in the Kushiel Legacy series. This series follows the story of Imriel no Montreve de la Courcel, Phedre's adopted son. Another book set in Terre d'Ange is planned for 2009, and is called Naamah's Kiss.

Between the Kushiel Legacy trilogy and Imriel's Trilogy Carey published a different series, a two book series called The Sundering. It is more in the vein of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and is written from the point of view of the 'dark side'.
